These pictures came with a price. I had to listen to Mr. Oblivious, former known as Sweet Man squeal like a girl because I had him stop along the way to take the photos.....what's a little oncoming or honking traffic when you're getting blog fodder. I mean come on....one must chose one's priorities for art's sake....but that isn't how Mr. O saw it. Well, good naturedly but still. We had a great time annoying people for the money shot.
Sorry about the yield sign. This too is a message for life, wink wink |
I must make a personal observation here, nothing like a week's vacation to clear your attitude calendar and readjust your responses. We had become like two cats in a sack, what with all the stress of life and having time and being able to scrap and fuss and make up.........well let's just say that Mr. O and I are in a much better place with each other and I am so very thankful.
So the moral of this story is go check out some old fronts and pull some down....it's a good thing.
Glad that your vacation did the job and that you both are more content with each other (I assume) ... Hubby has learned to either let me drive so that I can stop for the picture, or I lead on the cycles so that I can stop for the picture or for turtles in the road which need a hand getting across safely...It took a lot of years, but he finally got his training...
ReplyDeleteReally like the pics of the old facades...
ReplyDeleteI really love looking at old buildings. Thanks oodles for sharing parts of your vacation with us. Tell Mr. O thanks for showing so much restraint and for being a good egg. I could never get the Mister to stop for pictures so vacation photos usually have pictures of splattered bugs in front of the wonderful views I was trying to capture through the windsheild of a moving car or they're just blurry enough to be impossible to identify the subject matter.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures within the post! Excellent to look at! Keep up the great work because you're excellent at it!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm admiring your frontage... obviously both on the buildings, and your ability to get the shots... ;o)
ReplyDeletevacays are good things. reminds you why you hooked up together.
ReplyDeleteVacation can help a lot, or the opposite. I begun writing how vacation can give a boost to a relationship and remembered how in August me and hubbie went for a tiny trip for a gig of his and all hell broke loose. We got lost, almost frozen to death, had to leave in the middle of the night or spend the night with a pack of drunk or stoned musicians and fans. Now that i write about them seem funny, but at that time i could not appreciate the irony.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your vacations were n't like our last weekend off! lol
Those buildings are georgeous!
Brightest blessings.
Too few people look up anymore. I love old buildings because they have a character that is sadly lacking in today's concrete box style of architecture.
ReplyDeleteYay for reconnecting--may the calm and affection stay with you.
Lovely architecture! I love going places and seeing the variety of buildings. And get-aways are good! :0) So happy that you and Hubby were able to enjoy a bit of time for yourselves.
ReplyDeleteLOL sounds like my husband though he is getting a bit better at understanding. I love the architecture of those buildings - some remind me of our downtown Gulfport area in fact! They've renovated most of the facades down there but they kept the original architecture of them. You know, that's one of the things I look at in a new city - the buildings.
ReplyDeleteI just got back from a week long vacation to Disney with my son, DIL, and two grandbabies 2 and 4. I can't exactly say that I feel rejuvenated though LOL!! Took me a week to recover and I'm still not sure that I'm there.
I'm so glad you two were able to get away and mend the tatters. That is something I need to try to do soon. It is just so difficult to get off work for a time. Those heifers are slave drivers. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love these photos. Very beautiful.
